Autograph Letter Signed, to “Dear Cooke” [Edward Cooke R.A.], informing him that Horsley is “slaving for a good cause”, hoping that Cooke can lend a hand at the Hospital. A good one page example, 7 x 4 inches. The Athenaeum, 15 February 1879. John Callcott Horsley (1817-1903), painter, treasurer of the Academy 1882-1897. He was a painter of genre and historical scenes, illustrator, and the designer of the first Christmas card.
