Letter Signed ‘le M[arech]al de Castries’, asking for a letter to be forwarded to a man serving in St.Domingo, with instructions that he be ordered to reply to his family. In French. 1 page 9 x 8 inches, lower right corner clipped without loss of text, otherwise in good condition. Versailles, 21 February 1784. Charles-Eugène-Gabriel de la Croix, Marquis de Castries (1727-1801), Marshal of France, fought in all the wars in Flanders and Germany from 1743 to 1763. He became Minister of the Navy in 1780, Marshal in 1783.
