Autograph Letter Signed, accepting “the high honour of being one of the Vice-presidents of the London Vaccine Institution”. 1 page 9 x 7 inches, integral blank, a few marginal defects. 15 South Audley Street, 22 January 1808. Isaac Hawkins Browne (1745–1818), politician and industrialist, son of Isaac Hawkins Browne (1706-1760), the poet. He represented Bridgnorth for twenty-eight years from 1784 to 1812. He was a supporter of William Pitt and later of the ministries of Henry Addington, the duke of Portland, and Spencer Perceval. In 1815 Browne published anonymously Essays, Religious and Moral, which he afterwards acknowledged. His Essays on Subjects of Important Inquiry in Metaphysics, Morals and Religion (1822) was not published until after his death.
