Autograph Letter Signed ‘Albemarle’, probably to his publisher, about the different number of pages in each of the two volumes. 1 page 7 x 4 inches, trace of mounting. 11 Grosvenor Square, 16 December 1851. George Thomas Keppel, 6th Earl of Albemarle (1799-1891), joined the 3rd Battalion 14th Foot just six weeks before seeing action at the Battle of Waterloo. He wrote a number of travel books: Personal Narrative of a Journey from India to England, by Bussorah, Bagdad, The Ruins of Babylon, Curdistan, The Court of Persia, The Western Shore of the Caspian Sea, Astrakhan, Nishney, Novogorod, Moscow, and St. Petersburgh in the Year 1824. 2 vols, 1827); Personal Narrative of Travels in Babylonia, Assyria, Media and Scythia (1827); Narrative of a Journey across the Balcan (1831).
