Autograph Letter Signed, to Dr. Curgenven, about the loss of a patient, insisting that “I wish people would learn that a discharging Ear is a source of perpetual danger to life”. 3 pp. 5 x 3½ inches, in good condition, light traces of mounting. 78 Harley Street, 17 November 1887. Dr Edward G. Woakes (1837-1912) was an eminent aural surgeon. He also had a Harley Street practice. Woakes published on such topics as deafness, migraine, vertigo and diphtheria. He was a patron of James McNeill Whistler, and commissioned a portrait of his daughter, Portrait of Miss Lilian Woakes.
