Autograph Letter Signed, to Messrs. Howell & James, about assisting them in suggesting paintings of his own which would be suitable for transfer to tapestry work. 2 pp. 7 x 4 inches, very fine. Little Holland House, Kensington, 18 November 1880. G.F.Watts (1817-1904), painter, known for his portraits, subject pieces, and the statue of Physical Energy in Kensington Gardens. The only painting in his studio which Watts feels is suitable for reproduction in tapestry “is one on which I have bestowed years of work & value it in proportion” at no less than five thousand pounds.
