Autograph Letter Signed to John Mogford, about his collection of autograph letters, willing to exchange his duplicates. 3 pp. 7 x 4 inches, second leaf tipped along left edge to part of an old album page. In very good condition. Attractive printed letter heading. The Westminster Photographic Establishment, 34 Parliament Street, 23 April 1866. “… my gatherings already fill five good sized volumes …I want Benjamin West and I might be tempted to purchase Sr Joshua Reynolds.” John Watkins (1823-1874) was an English portrait photographer. He and his brother, Octavius Charles Watkins (1836-1882), often worked together. They made studio portraits of artists and culturally influential people in the years between 1840 and 1875. Among their sitters were many notables of the Victorian era, including Charles Dickens, the Prince of Wales, John Stuart Mill, Thomas Carlyle, Charles Kingsley, Carlo Marochetti and many others.
