Autograph Letter Signed ‘Thurlow”, asking his correspondent to “proceed” in various matters, and “With regard to Parkers farm I wish you to act, as judgement on the spot prompts you. It is impossible for me to form any opinion on that matter”. 1 page 9 x 7 inches, integral blank leaf, in good condition. Ramsgate, 16 October 1799. Edward Thurlow (1731-1806) became solicitor-general (1770), attorney-general (1771) and lord chancellor (1778). He gained favour by supporting Lord North, and upholding George III’s American policy. ‘No man was so wise as Thurlow looked.’ (C.J.Fox).
