Autograph Letter Signed, to Samuel Twining, about adding Thorburn’s engravings to his collection, saying that “the best of my public prints have been published by Mr. Hering, Regent Street”, adding that the best ones are “some private ones the property of the Queen”. 2 pp.7 x 4 inches, in good condition. Lasswade, near Edinburgh, 25 June 1853. Robert Thorburn (1818-1885), Scottish portrait and miniature painter. In 1846 he received his first commission from Queen Victoria; many followed. Miniature-portraits of the Queen, and of the Queen with Edward VII, when Prince of Wales, are reproduced in Sir R. R. Holmes’s ‘Queen Victoria’ (1897).
