Autograph Letter Signed ‘H.E.V.Stannard’, addressed “Dear Sir”, unable to publish the story because “it is utterly unsuitable for my magazine …” 2 pp. 5 x 8 inches, headed as “From John Strange Winter, Editor of ‘Golden Gates’”, mounted along top edge, minor blemishes. 28 February 1891. Henrietta Eliza Vaughan Stannard (née Palmer; 1856–1911) writing under the pseudonym of John Strange Winter, was a British novelist. She was founding president of the Writers’ Club in 1892, and president of the Society of Women Journalists in 1901 to 1903.
