Autograph Letter Signed, to E.W.Cooke about signing for his father at the Athenaeum before “an engagement to be in the Fens of Lincolnshire”. 3 pp. 7 x 4 inches, fine. Grosvenor Street, 28 January 1858. Sydney Smirke, architect, (1798-1877), a younger brother of Sir Robert Smirke, also an architect. In 1847 Smirke altered, and in 1857 completely rebuilt the Carlton Club. He also constructed the exhibition galleries for the Royal Academy at Burlington House.
