I painted a picture of an old Man Dressing, it was exhibited in 1810 and sold to Lord Elchin, it passed to several hands, at last it came into the hands of O’Neale in London, who sold it to Napier, Engineer Glasgow, for £315 and the picture is now engraving in London, my name was taken out and Wilkie’s put in. I mean to claim the copy right. This is quite public.”
