Autograph Letter Signed, as Marshal of France, making an appointment with a doctor (“even though it’s Christmas” – trans.) In French. A good one page example, 8 x 5 inches. Paris, 24 December 1868. Adolphe Niel (1802-1869), French general, statesman and Marshal of France, served in Algeria in the 1830’s. In 1855 he was sent to the Crimea to direct military engineering. Niel directed the siege operations at the Battle of Malakoff.
