Autograph Letter Signed ‘J.Netherclift’, to J.G.Nichols, discussing at some length the legalities and copyright issues of reproducing “the queen’s writing” for his correspondent’s magazine, insisting he has royal permission, suggesting terms for publication. 1 page 8 x 5 inches, with address leaf, minor blemishes only. 16 February 1838. Uncommon. Joseph Netherclift (1792 – 1863) was an English composer and lithographer. He was awarded a medal in 1829 for his method of lithography. He made lithographic facsimiles of historical documents for publication, responding to the new craze for collecting autographs and manuscripts.
