Letter Signed as Marshal, and as the Duc de Trevise, to the Prefect of Tura, about military personnel. In French. A good one page example, 12 x 8 inches, folds. Ministry of War, Paris, 7 January 1835. Edouard Mortier, Duc de Trévise (1768-1835), Marshal of France, distinguished himself in Friedland (1807), in Spain (1808-09), and in the Russian campaign (1812) when he was appointed Governor of Moscow. Premier of France (1834-35). In 1835 he was killed by the terrorist Fieschi’s bomb at the National Guard review attended by Louis Philippe.
