Autograph Letter Signed ‘Henry Meath’, as Bishop of Meath, to ‘My Lord’, expressing his concern that he would not be able to attend His Excellency as he had been “seized with a smart fit of the gout”, sending his son instead to receive “your Excellency’s commands”, and assuring him of his own “steady support of your Excellency’s Administration”. 1 page 9 x 7½ inches, in good condition. 31 December 1787. Henry Maxwell, D.D. (c.1723–1798) was an Anglican clergyman who served in the Church of Ireland as the Dean of Kilmore, then Bishop of Dromore, and finally Bishop of Meath.
