Autograph Letter Signed, making arrangements for “a tea-party for the Wives, & Widows, of Beddington”. 3 pp. 5 x 3½ inches, traces of mounting, otherwise good. Beddington Rectory, 24 September, no year given. Catherine Marsh (1818-1912), prolific novelist, and author of Memorials of Captain Hedley Vicars and of English Hearts and English Hands. She was the daughter of William Marsh, the rector of Beddington. Catherine Marsh worked for the improvement of the working classes, particularly during the cholera epidemic of 1866.
