Autograph Letter Signed ‘Eug. Lami’, to Monsieur Vibert, explaining and apologising for a delay, he is working on a portrait of the Duke d’Orleans at the request of the Duchess. In French. 1 page 8 x 5 inches, in good condition, with the integral address leaf neatly tipped on to part of an album page. Paris, 15 September 1842, Eugène Louis Lami (1800 –1890), French painter, watercolourist, lithographer, illustrator and designer. He was a painter of fashionable Paris during the period of the July Monarchy and the Second French Empire and also made history paintings and illustrations for books such as Gil Blas and Manon Lescaut.
