Autograph Note Signed ‘R.H.H.’, to Mrs.Bird, arranging to call for her and her friend for a visit to the Zoological Gardens, asking her to forgive “my abrupt departure” if it is necessary for him to leave early. 1 page 4 x 7 inches, tipped on to an old album page. [1850] Richard Henry ‘Hengist’ Horne (1803-1884), English writer, served in the Mexican Navy, and returned to publish the epic Orion in 1843 at the price of one farthing, to show his contempt of a public that would not buy poetry. From 1852 to 1869 he was in Australia. His books include ‘A New Spirit of the Age’ (1844).
