Autograph Letter Signed, on behalf of the Archbishop, to the Rev. Mr.Wynn in Merioneth, expressing satisfaction with his Orders, addressed on the verso in pencil, and signed ‘Tho: free Cantuar’ in pencil by the Archbishop of Canterbury. 1 page 9 x 7 inches, inlaid, in good condition. Kensington, 11 July 1749. William Herring (d.1774), Dean of St. Asaph, brother of Thomas, Archbishop of Canterbury. The archbishop has inserted ‘free’ into his signature, to ensure the signature is only used to secure free postage, and is not cut out and used for other purposes.
