Letter Signed as Minister of Police, to the Minister of War, discussing in detail a case of assault by a corporal in the Reserve, the results of the police investigation, the expulsion of the accused, stating that the case can now be considered closed. In French. 2 pp. 12 x 8 inches, in good condition, one corner filing hole, annotated on receipt. Paris, 10 February 1809. The scarce autograph of Napoleon’s Minister of Police, Joseph Fouché, duc d’Otrante (Duke of Otranto) (1759–1820), who became member of the Convention in 1792. An enthusiastic proponent of de-Christianization, and a consummate intriguer, he served as Minister of Police (1799–1815).
