Autograph Letter Signed, to “My dear Thompson”, asking him to sign a proposal form for Carey Foster’s son, Arnold. A good one page example, 7 x 4 inches. 10 Daleham Gardens, Hampstead, 6 December 1898. George Carey Foster FRS (1835 –1919) was a chemist and physicist, born at Sabden in Lancashire. He was Professor of Physics at University College London, and served as the first Principal (salaried head of the College) from 1900 to 1904. The Carey Foster bridge is named after him.
