Autograph Letter Signed ‘Wm. J.Burchell’, addressed “My dear Sir”, accepting his kind invitation. 1 page 4 x 4 inches, in good condition, light traces of former mounting on verso. 27 April 1842. Uncommon. William John Burchell (1781-1863), English explorer, naturalist, traveller, artist, and author. His thousands of plant specimens, as well as field journals from his South African expedition, are held by Kew Gardens, and his insect collection by the Oxford University Museum.
