Autograph Letter Signed, to Dr. Chalmers, discussing a controversial Pamphlet, referring to tomorrow’s motion “that there is no longer need for presbyterial interference”, attempting to heal the breach with Chalmers. 3 pp. 9 x 7 inches, with address panel, in good condition. Edinburgh College, 25 April 1837. Alexander Brunton (1772-1854), minister in the Church of Scotland who rose to its highest rank, Moderator of the General Assembly in 1823. He was a noted academic, as Professor of Hebrew and Oriental Languages at the University of Edinburgh. He was the author of a Persian Grammar (Edinburgh, 1822).
