Autograph Letter Signed, to J.Heaton, Bookseller, Leeds, about the circumstances surrounding the possible publication of “so valuable & beautiful a discourse” by Mr. Hamilton. 2½ pages 10 x 8 inches, remains of guard where formerly mounted, some light staining, address panel. Manchester, 24 August 1833. Robert Stephens McAll (1792-1838), Congregational minister, renowned preacher. His published works consist of several occasional sermons and poems (some in Wheeler’s ‘Manchester Poetry,’ 1838) and a collection of ‘Discourses on Special Occasions,’ with a memoir by Dr. Ralph Wardlaw, 2 vols. 1840. Another collection of sermons, with a preface by T. H., is dated 1843. There is a large engraved portrait of him by J. Bostock, after Ward.
