A long Autograph Letter Signed, entering into a controversy about the facts and figures of the Local Militia, the maintenance of company strength, errors in deductions and much else relating to military administration. 4 pp. 9 x 7 inches, dusty, with other blemishes, but complete, tears at centre fold neatly repaired. Hampton Court, 25 February 1809. Sir George Yonge (1731-1812) was secretary for war in from 1782 to 1794. In February 1799 he was appointed Governor of the Cape of Good Hope.
