Autograph Letter Signed ‘T.Woolner’, to “My dear White”, explaining that he is unable to attend his dinner because he has another engagement on the same day, “a dress coat formal”. 1 page 7 x 4 inches, in good condition. 29 Welbeck Street [London], undated. Thomas Woolner (1825-1892), Pre-Raphaelite sculptor and poet who went to the Australian gold fields (1852-54). “Why will good-natured persons torture hardworking persons by dress clothes! and why will two good things come together, so that one hustles the other out doors!”
