An uncommon and desirable autograph. William Westall (1781 – 1850) was an English landscape artist best known as one of the first artists to work in Australia. Westall, as a young man, served as landscape and figure painter on the famous voyage of exploration under Matthew Flinders (1801-03). Westall became an accomplished illustrator of topographical works in England.
