An Autograph Inscription Signed ‘J.Wertheimer’ as Grand Rabbi of Geneva, presented to Miss Ethel Bevington, with some Hebrew script beneath. 1 page 7 x 4½ inches, fine. 19 June 1874. “Un bijou perdu est toujours an bijou – le possesseur seul ne l’a plus.” Joseph Wertheimer (1833-1908) Chief Rabbi of Geneva. He was also professor of philology and linguistics at the University of Geneva from 1873 to 1906, where he encountered the likes of Lenin, Plekhanov , Chaim Weizmann and Martin Buber.
