Horsley Palmer, explaining the unfortunate delay which has arisen over leasing his house at Hurlingham to Horsley Palmer, requesting “your indulgence for a few days”. 1½ pages, in fine condition, light creases only. Hurlingham, 6 August 1838. Richard Colley, Marquis Wellesley (1760-1842), Governor-General of India and brother of the 1st Duke of Wellington. In 1821 he was appointed Lord Lieutenant of Ireland. Province Wellesley, in the state of Penang, Malaysia, was named after him, and the Wellesley Islands off the north coast of Queensland, Australia, were named by Matthew Flinders in honour of Richard Wellesley.
