Autograph Letter Signed ‘C.Turner’, to his grandson Richard Lavery, thanking him for “the Paper of the Steam Boats”, and discussing a proposed visit by Richard’s brother Charles. 3 pp. 5 x 3½ inches, folded, in good condition. Woodstock, 25 August 1852. Charles Turner (1774-1857), engraver. He engraved and published the first twenty plates of J.M.W.Turner’s Liber Studiorum. He became a distinguished master in mezzotint, producing more than six hundred plates of which about two-thirds are portraits.
