Two Autograph Letters Signed, to Miss Johnes, discussing songs to be sent by his publisher, hoping she has received the Welsh Melodies, offering condolences on the death of her uncle, etc. 2 letters, 8 pp. 7 x 4 inches, in good condition. 53 Welbeck Street, 11 November 1880; 2 May 1882. John Thomas (1826 –1913), Welsh composer and harpist. The bardic name Pencerdd Gwalia (Chief of the Welsh minstrels) was conferred on him at the 1861 Aberdare Eisteddfod. In 1872 he was appointed harpist to Queen Victoria.
