Autograph Manuscript Signed ‘Celia Thaxter’, being four verses from her poem Rock Weeds, commencing with verse 9: “The barren island dreams in flowers …” 16 lines on 1 page 8 x 5 inches, in good clean condition, traces of mounts at corners. Undated. Celia Laighton Thaxter (1835 –1894), American writer of poetry and stories. Rock Weeds (1868) uses descriptions of the flora of the Isles of Shoals (off the coast of New Hampshire) to express the melancholy and isolation to be found among nature.
