Autograph Letter Signed, to Francis Pearson, a solicitor in Westmorland, making arrangements for Pearson’s visit, discussing the times of coaches between Carlisle, Newcastle, and Morpeth, where he and his son would meet him ‘in our little chaise’. 2 pp. 4to, integral address leaf. Felton postmark. Bank House, 18 December 1830. James Tate (1771-1843), author and master of Richmond school. Sydney Smith, travelling in the same coach as Tate, declared to a friend he had fallen in with ‘a man dripping with Greek’.
