Autograph Letter Signed, to Frederick Dolman, refusing to allow Stone’s pictures to be reproduced in the Windsor Magazine, adding some information about a recent picture painted “on a small scale”, to which he gave more time than to his most important pictures. 1 page 7 x 4 inches, fine. 8 Melbury Road, Kensington Road, 30 April 1904. Marcus Stone (1840 – 1921), painter, son of Frank Stone, ARA, was trained by his father and began to exhibit at the Academy before he was eighteen; and a few years later he illustrated with much success books by Charles Dickens, Anthony Trollope, and other writers, friends of his family.
