Autograph Letter Signed ‘F.Stone’, to “My dear Cooke”, explaining that he has just returned from the Rhine, so regrets that “we were not at home to enjoy the treat you held out to us”. 1 page 7 x 4 inches, fine. Russell House, Tavistock Square, 5 September 1855. Frank Stone (1800-1859), English painter. He was the father of the painter Marcus Stone who illustrated many works by Charles Dickens (the Stones were Dickens’ neighbours for many years) and himself produced a frontispiece for an edition of Martin Chuzzlewit.
