Alexander Patrick Stewart (1813-18883), physician at Middlesex Hospital (1855-66), wrote the paper differentiating between Typhus and Typhoid Fever: ‘Some Considerations on the Nature and Pathology of Typhus and Typhoid Fever applied to the Solution of the Question of the Identity or Non-Identity of the two Diseases’ (1840).
