Autograph Letter Signed, to Miss Booth, having sent a small gift by train, explaining that she had decided to keep the Jar of Honey for herself, praising Leigh Hunt, who has all the qualities of a “happy spirit which sees Couleur de Rose where your dull people only see Fog”. 4 pp. 7 x 4 inches, with a separate signed inscription, in good condition. Lowestoft, 12 January 1848. Pleasance Smith (11 May 1773 – 3 February 1877) (née Reeve), English letter writer and literary editor. She married James Edward Smith. After she married in 1796 she was painted “as a gypsy” by John Opie.
