Jean-Mathieu-Philibert Sérurier, 1st Comte Sérurier (1742—1819), Marshal of France, fought in the French Revolutionary Wars in the army of the Alps (1795) and under Napoleon in Italy at the battles of Vico,Mondovi, Catiglione and in the siege of Mantua.. He was Governor of Venice (1801) and Lucca (1798). He helped Bonaparte to carry out the 18 Brumaire coup (November 1799).
