Autograph Letter Signed ‘Thos.Ruggles’, addressed ‘My Lord’, putting his own name forward for appointment as a magistrate in Suffolk, and informing him of an earlier application made through the Duke of Grafton. 2 pp. 9 x 7 inches, in good condition. [19 March 1792]. Thomas Ruggles (1737-1813), writer on the poor law. He published: The Barrister; or Strictures on the Education proper for the Bar (1792); The History of the Poor, their Rights, Duties, and the laws respecting them (1793-94).
