ROSSETTI, Christina. 18031

Autograph Letter Signed ‘Christina G.Rossetti’, addressed “Madam”, sending a “printed paper”, evidently of charitable purpose in favour of “Mr. Dymes and his family”, indicating the support of C.L.Dodgson, “the noted ‘Lewis Carol’ of ‘Wonderland’.” 3 pp. 7 x 4 inches, fine. 30 Torrington Square, 2 February 1884. Christina Rossetti (1830-94), poet. “Mr. Dyles and his family are not personally known to me, but Mr. Dodgson (the Revd.) who vouches for him and his is. Perhaps you already indentify Mr. Dodgson as the noted “Lewis Carol” of “Wonderland”.” The “printed paper” would have been Dodgson’s Circular to friends in behalf of an Oxford Graduate [T. J. Dymes] in distress. [1883).
