Autograph Letter Signed ‘John Rennie’, three weeks before his death, referring to the supply of water for shipping, following “a letter from Mr. Steevens of the East London water works”, and enquiring about an earlier letter. 1 page 9½ x 8 inches, with a few lines and signature overleaf, in good condition. West India Docks House, 14 September 1821. The uncommon autograph of the elder John Rennie (1761-1821), Scottish civil engineer, whose designs included the Docks at London, Blackwall, Hull, Liverpool, Dublin, Greenock and Leith.
