Two lower sections (only) of two ‘Privy Seals’, bearing the signatures of collectors appointed to receive the loans. 2 part documents 4 x 4 inches, mounted along the left edges on an old album page. With a typed page of historical notes. 1591 & 1604. Privy Seals are royal exhortations, issued under the Privy Seal to persons to lend money to the sovereign together with a promise of repayment (usually obtained only with the utmost difficulty) and contain a form or receipt to be completed and signed by the appointed collector. These are the signatures that appear on these two part documents.
