Autograph Letter, in the third person (”Eizak Pitman to Miss J.N.Earle”), to a pupil about her shorthand “Ekserseises”, making arrangements for their meeting, and telling her to “Bring your Shorthand Kopi Buk”. 3 pp. 7 x 4½ inches, fine. Hazelwood, Warminster Road, Bath, 25 April 1882. Sir Isaac Pitman (1813 – 1897) developed the most widely used system of shorthand, known now as Pitman shorthand. He first proposed this in Stenographic Soundhand in 1837. “You must be abel to read Shorthand priti wel if you hav dun all the Ekserseises…”
