Autograph Letter Signed, to James Radford, 2 Charles Street, St. Johns, thanking him for the useful sketch and asking for “some other sketches of interesting dresses & characters” of friends to assist Perigal in his current work, “pledging myself not to afford any printed key so as to give them unnecessary publicity”. 1½ pages 9 x 7 inches, with the address leaf, in good condition. Undated [watermark 1828]. Uncommon. Arthur Perigal (1784?–1847), English historical, portrait and landscape painter. He studied under Henry Fuseli at the Royal Academy, and in 1811 gained the gold medal for historical painting, the subject being Themistocles taking Refuge at the Court of Admetus.
