Autograph Letter Signed ‘John Oxenford’ to “My dear Sir” [Tom Taylor], saying he has recovered from an operation, asking Taylor to send some one to see a new play at the Haymarket, “as I am still a fixture, and the piece is too important to postpone”. 1 page, with closing line and signature on the second leaf. 7 x 4 inches, mourning border, in good condition, horizontal folds. Found among the correspondence of Tom Taylor (1817-80), critic, dramatist and editor of Punch. West Lodge, Barnsbury Square, Saturday, undated [watermark 1866]. Uncommon.
