Autograph Letter Signed, to Frank Howard, explaining they have been away from home, but can now extend an invitation to “Quite a friendly party”. 1 page 7 x 4 inches, in good condition. The Hollies, West Darby, undated. James Sheridan Muspratt (1821-1871), Irish scientist, author of many works including a two volume work on Chemistry. Muspratt worked with Justus von Liebig in Giessen before founding the Liverpool College of Chemistry in 1841. Muspratt was a friend of Dickens and Macready. He took a keen interest in local theatre and in 1847 acted as organizing secretary for the visit of Charles Dickens’s amateur company, which was the first appearance in Liverpool of the celebrated American actresses the Cushman sisters; Muspratt married Susan Cushman in 1848.
