Autograph Letter Signed, to Elliott Stock, about the payment of a subscription. A good one page example, 7 x 4½ inches. Brixton, 13 June 1872. Alexander McArthur (1814 -1909), Australian and British merchant and politician, arrived in Sydney in 1842. In 1851 he was very successful as a shipping agent for the export of gold. His firm built a large warehouse in Sydney and opened branches in Adelaide, Melbourne, Brisbane and Auckland.
