Autograph Letter Signed, to James Ainslie, hoping she will accept “a ‘Libriccino’, of which only a few copies were printed, & I trust that ‘Our Lady of Lesbos’ will be heard in her own excuse”, and regretting that Mr and Mrs Ainslie are quitting Naples so soon. 1 page 5 x 4 inches, with the integral address leaf, remains of guard, occasional light staining. 74 Monte di Dio, Pirro-falcone, 24 May 1819. Thomas James Mathias (1754-1835), satirist and Italian scholar. Mathias went to Italy in 1817, and published his Lycra Sacra there in 1819.
