Autograph Letter Signed, asking his correspondent to obtain The National Calendar for 1830 and Darby’s View of the United States (1828 or 1829 edition) “from Mr Miller, American Bookseller, near St Pauls” 2 pp. 7 x 4 inches, minor blemishes and creases. Undated [1829]. Charles Maclaren (1782 –1866), Scottish journalist and geologist. He co-founded The Scotsman newspaper, was its editor for 27 years, edited the 6th Edition of the Encyclopædia Britannica. In 1822 Maclaren was the first person to successfully identify the correct position of the lost city of Troy, in his Dissertation on the Topography of the Plain of Troy.
